We're Down Unda!

Hey everyone!! Well after 27 hours of travelling we made it!! Holy cow that sucked. I am so happy that I dont have to do that again anytime soon....Anywho, let me tell you what we have been up to so far on our first day in Oz. Well after we got through 'quarantine' in sydney airport - ya they spray your carry-on luggage with insecticide and scan your bags for wood, foods - packaged or not and even have special quarantine sniffing dogs!!So ya, after that we wandered around the airport a bit and finally figured out how to use the damn phones down here to call for our hostel to come pick us up we arrived at our hostel... The ride there was a little insane, I think our driver dude had a death wish or something... We get to our hot, cramped, messy hostel... not soo refreshing after 27hrs you know?? So we walked down the street and found this sweet hotel for really cheap and we are going to crash there for the first night and recharge.

My first impressions of Syndey was holy cow is it busy... we wandered all over downtown getting our banking stuff all set up, that wasnt too much fun. I tell you this currency exchange thing is a rip here... I converted some american and canadian $$ to AUD and they charged me $12 commission!! at my new bank!! gee thanks.So after we were stressing out from being around a bazillion ppl in the airports and downtown we walked through the park here... and WOW is it ever beautiful!! I am so amazed! love it.

Oh ya, I have been here one day and I have already been bitten by something... that cant be a good sign. When we were in the park I saw this kiwi looking type bird and started to whistle at it and the bugger came!! I guess he though I had food cause it bit my finger... Birds here aren't poisonous are they?? never know in Oz i guess... I still have my finger, so all is well mom.

Alright, well Its supper time here so I am gonna go chow down... I'll upload some picks and show you what I am talking about as soon as I find a decent computer to do so!I think tomorrow we are going to go for a ride on a ferry around the harbour and see the Opera house and Harbour bridge.

Cheerio - (Goodbye in Aussie)

Hey everyone!! Sorry we haven't had a post in a little while, had quite a bit on our plate these last few weeks... let me tell ya about it. Oh ya, I added a link to our photo album with a bunch of pics from the parties last week... we'll be throwing in lots of photo's once we get there, so check it out.

Ok here we go. On Friday the 18th of Aug we each had our last day at work. Our Friends threw a going away party at my parents house, then had a going away party on Saturday at Erynns parents house, then another one with my family at the lake on Sunday!! We havent drank that much since our bar star days!! We just wanted to tell everyone that we had a great time at all 3 parties, it was great to have one last bash before we go. Thanks to everyone who helped arrange everything, and also for all the gifts too!! That was great!

So after 3 days of drinking, partying, BBQ's and hardly any sleep at all, we had to move our butts out of our appartment... you can guess how much fun that was. We figured we would have had everything moved out on the monday, and then clean on tuesday, just in time for Vball playoffs...

not so.

How much crap can you fit in an appartment you ask?? lots. We finally got everything moved out and cleaned on Thursday, and completly missed our vball tourney. I think I made about 150 trips up and down those 4 flights of stairs - oh and the landlord had the heat cranked to +35, that was a nice touch. So we were a little stressed and a lot pooped out after that. At least we worked off all the BBQ and beer from the weekend i guess...

Oh, I'm not done yet.... My buddy Kris got married on the 26th, and I was in the wedding party! So Saturday was a gong show to say the least. Everyone was looking quite sexy, all done up - see the photo album if you no believe. We got to say our goodbye's to a lot of friends that missed the going away parties last week, so that was awesome.

Well, we leave Monday morning at 9:05am... and right now its Sunday at 5pm and I haven't even packed my bag yet... haha!! So I guess I should end this now and get my ass in gear before I miss the damn plane. So goodbye for now everyone, thanks for everything these past few weeks, and we'll talk to you down unda!!

Things to do

Hey Everyone, well we are down to 25days until we go!! (thats just 600 hours incase anyone else is counting too). Since our last post we both got our sweet backpacks and told our work about our little plan, they even seemed pretty cool about it too! So lately I have been trying to come up with a list of things we have to do before we go... and here it is

• get drunk with friends
• line up a hostel to stay once we get there
• make a list of apartments to check out
• set up a bank acct in Oz and transfer a few mil into it
• go to the dentist
• practice driving on the wong side of the road
• stock up on speedo's
• wax bikini line

I am also starting a list of things to do once we get there... please feel free to let me know what I can add to this list.

• learn to surf
• learn to speak australian
• "Gut shoot a kangaroo" for Mark M.
• Sit on a Crocodile
• Eat a kangaroo, large snake and a Crocodile
• Punch a Koala bear in anger for Tom B.
• Smuggle 4 koala bears back to Canada (I am still taking orders if you want one too)
• scuba and/or snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef
• NOT get eaten by a shark or crocodile, bitten by a snake, spider, and other strange bugs.

I am going to try my best with all these... some may be harder than others. I tried to find a mean Koala picture for motivation... but I guess thats pretty hard to come by. This one will have to do.
