Oh My Babylon

No need to worry none / Don't need that Satan speak / Don't mind to babble on this way. Where beer flows from the creek / No politician speak / Pretty lady every day of the week / Don't mind to babble on this way...

Steve... you can babble on all you like!! Fronting the 2 piece band "The Fumes", Steve Merry and drummer Joel Battersby, gave one hell of a show at The Beach Road Hotel last night in Bondi. And we were right there to witness it all!! We arrived somewhat early - probably around 6 pm. Nathan and I were getting antsy because it seemed like we were waiting forever for them to go on stage. All we could do was keep each other company, keep the beers flowing and wait patiently. Finally around 830 they started their set. Wow!! We were absolutely blown away!! I can honestly say out of all the concerts I've ever been to - and I've been to alot of 'big concerts' - that this is definitely one of the best shows I have ever experienced. It was pretty awesome too that I was so close I could have reached out and strummed a note or two on Steve's guitar. This band is definitely on my "recommendation" list... so make sure to check them out. Unfortunately, I don't think you can buy their album in Canada... but we've added a link on our blog where you can listen to a couple of their songs. Awesome stuff. Make sure to check it out. Oh ya - I must brag a little to say that I met them as well... went up and got them to autograph my CD after the show. It was great!!

This past weekend we attended the Traveler's Expo. It was 2 levels of exhibits on travel, accommodation and work. Kind of a 'what to see', 'what to do' and 'where to go' type expo. We got a lot of information and pamphlets regarding all types of things. Nate and I were like 2 kids in a candy store... we were getting free stuff everywhere we turned. Pens, shirts, beer, wine, kiwi Vodka shots... you name it we got it!! It gave us some good travel ideas and we're excited to check out some of the places they mentioned.

Work is looking more positive... for 1/2 of this duo anyway. I've got hired on with Quay Appointments and Acom Corporation. They are offices that find me temp work. I start this week at Amnesty International doing Data Entry. Can't complain... it will be nice to get back doing some type of work. Even better because I'll be making more money than I did back home!! They pay awesome here... I mean just a normal reception job pays around $19-22 /hr. That's tons more than they do back home for just reception. Things are a bit pricier here so perhaps it all evens out in the end... I can't say for sure. As for Nathan... he's still searching. It's not as easy as we thought to find employment here (unless you want to serve fast food). So I'm not sure what we're doing wrong or if we're even doing anything wrong. Hopefully luck comes on our side though and we're both working at some stellar jobs in no time.

Well I think that's it from over here. The weather has been great!! It was +30 both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. The rest of the week is looking around mid to high 20's. A lot warmer than I hear it is back home. Glad I'm not there to make snow angels or anything.

Miss you all - E&N

p/s Carrie & Mom - I found my Bojenmi tea here!! Yay!! You two know what that does to me... haha - good times now!!
